Austin, TX - July, 2001

While visiting Austin, TX for a business commitment I took a couple of extra days and toured the "Hill Country" in central Texas around greater Austin. Wonderful area to ride, varied terrain and excellent road conditions.
Austin is known for having great BBQ, I tried these spots while I was there.

Here are a few pictures I took during a 280 mile ride on Sunday.

Special thanks to Tony Garcia at Eagle Rider in Austin for hooking me up w/ a great Electra Glide Classic for my weekend touring experience.

The Ironworks BBQ - Austin's finest. The FLHTC I rented gettin' a sun bath while I stuffed my face inside.

The Ironworks BBQ in Austin. Make sure to try the pork ribs.

The Oasis, north of Austin on Lake Travis. The shot was taken from a restaurant called The Oasis overlooking Lake Travis north of Austin.

Decent food, but go for the view more than anything else.

Stubb's BBQ in downlown Austin. Great food and music. This was taken outside of Stubb's.

Another great BBQ joint in Austin.

Devil's Backbone, southwest of Austin near Wimberley. This was taken at a roadside turnoff on a section of road called "Devil's Backbone".

It's southwest of Austin, near Wimberley and a great stretch or road to ride.

Willow Loop - a 13 mile stretch of private road that cuts through the backside of a series of ranches. This shot was taken on a 13 mile stretch of road called Willow Loop.

It's northwest of Johnson City, on the way to Llano, and cuts across the back of a series of private ranches. Watch out for cattle.

Rough surface but a good ride none the less.
