Americade - June, 2008

Apparently my role as "tour guide" last year has taken on a recurring life of it's own. The guys asked me to lead them up to Lake George, NY, during the first week of June for Americade 2008 once again.

Mother Nature wasn't in a good mood this year and the weather was very "suspect" at best. The ride up on Wednesday started wet in Uxbridge, MA but did start to clear up when we picked up two other rides at the French King bridge, outside of Gill, MA. A little "ride in the clouds" going up through Florida, MA and finally started to clear as we rode down into North Adams, MA

Time to unload and stretch our legs as we arrive at The Clinton Inn at 3250 Lake Shore Drive, about 1 1/2 miles outside the village on 9N.

On the road to Lake Placid We took off on Thursday for Lake Placid, site of the 1932 and 1980 winter Olympic games. The guys had never been up here so we took the back roads up 9 from Lake George to 73 on into Lake Placid.
I wanted to do something a little different this year so after we left Lake Placid I headed east over to Lake Champlain and we took the ferry across from Essex to Charlotte. On the ferry

Well I would be committing a great injustice if I didn't take the time to tell you about the Raintree Restaurant and Lounge, located right across the street from the Clinton Inn at 3259 Lake Shore Drive in Lake George.

Special thanks to Muriel, Rich, Lauren and "T" for taking SUCH good care of us during our stay this year. They are wonderful folks and make sure to try the pizza!

I have to include a couple of lake shots every year, even if it was cloudy on Friday morning.

.

I had a solo ride home on Saturday morning as I had to get back for some family activities. I stopped to look back at North Adams, MA at the top of the west end of the summit.
